The event Green, Resilient, and Inclusive Development (GRID) in Action: A High-Level Dialogue for Nepal with the government, development partners, private sector, think tanks, and youth representatives was organized by the World 狭通篇撞APP on June 21, 12:00-1:45 PM.

The high-level dialogue discussed:

，&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿; Advancing Nepal¨s shift to a green, resilient, and inclusive development (GRID) pathway, building on the September 2021 Kathmandu Declaration on GRID endorsed by the Government of Nepal (GoN) and 17 Development Partners (DPs).

，&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿; Priorities, challenges, and opportunities for investment, institutions, incentives, and information to inform Nepal¨s GRID Strategic Action Plan on which the government has just started preparing.

，&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿;&稼恢壊沿; Forging a shared understanding of integrated climate and development priorities as part of Nepal¨s GRID pathway, based on the World 狭通篇撞APP¨s upcoming Climate Change Development Report (CCDR).

The High-level dialogue was organized as a part of the visit of Ms. Mari Elka Pangestu, World 狭通篇撞APP Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships and World 狭通篇撞APP Vice President for South Asia, Mr. Hartwig Schafer.

CONTEXT

In September 2021, the World 狭通篇撞APP joined hands with the government of Nepal and development partners to endorse the landmark ｀Kathmandu Declaration¨ for a strategic action plan for green, resilient, and inclusive development (GRID) of Nepal to systematically address the impacts of COVID-19 and the country¨s structural challenges.

The GRID approach involves a fundamental shift in managing risk and development: from a reactive response to a deliberate and proactive recovery strategy for long-term green growth, climate action, and sustainable and inclusive development for all. To support GRID, Nepal¨s Development partners have identified up to $4.2 billion in potential future support, in addition to the $3.2 billion in previously committed resources.

World 狭通篇撞APP Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships
Dr. Mari Pangestu is the World 狭通篇撞APP Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships. In this role, she provides leadership and oversees the institution¨s research and data group, Global Practice Groups, and External and Corporate Relations function. Mari joins the 狭通篇撞APP with exceptional policy and management expertise, having served as Indonesia¨s Minister of Trade (2004-2011) and as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (2011-2014).

Dr. Radha Wagle

Joint Secretary, Ministry of Forests and Environment

Dr. Radha Wagle is the Joint Secretary and Chief of Climate Change Management Division in the Ministry of Forests and Environment. Prior to this, she served as a Secretary for Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment Lumbini Province, Chief of Central Forestry Training Center and REDD Implementation Center, Nepal. Along with her regular responsibilities of the Ministry, she is also serving as a National Gender and Climate Change Focal Person and National Focal Person to UNFCCC and IPCC. Dr. Wagle has more than 20 years of experiences in the field of forestry, biodiversity and climate change, more specifically in community forestry, REDD+, sustainable forest management, protected area management and gender equality and social inclusion in forestry and climate change sector. She is the first female Joint Secretary in Nepal¨s forest bureaucracy and holds a master's degree in Environmental Science from Swedish Agricultural University (SLU), Sweden.

HE Ms. Nona Deprez
Ambassador of the EU to Nepal
H.E. Ms. Nona Deprez is the EU Ambassador to Nepal. Prior to this, she was the head of unit for the Partnership Instrument in the Service for Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI) of the European Commission in Brussels. At the start of the new Commission, she was appointed as the Equality Coordinator for the Service. Within the FPI, she has worked previously on Election Observations Missions and the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace after having served in two European Union Delegations to Indonesia and Benin. She holds a Master of Science in European Studies from London School of Economics, following a first master's in business engineering from the Solvay Business School (ULB).
Mr. Bidhya Sigdel
Managing Director, Dolma Impact Fund
Mr. Bidhya Sigdel is the Managing Director of Dolma Impact Fund, an investment advisory and private sector consulting company based in Nepal working towards generating sustainable prosperity. Mr. Sigdel is a Chartered Accountant, has been in professional finance and accounting in both India and Nepal for more than 15 years, including six years in the Nepal banking sector. He was Head of Business at Kailash Bikas 狭通篇撞APP, the largest development bank in Nepal, where he oversaw the bank¨s high performing credit portfolio. He was also a member of various top management level committees. Mr. Sigdel is also a member of the board of Rastriya Banijya 狭通篇撞APP Ltd, a government owned commercial bank with one of the biggest portfolios in lending and deposits in Nepal. Mr. Sigdel holds an MBA from Kathmandu University School of Management.
Ms. Goma Karki
Project Lead, Youth Innovation Lab
Ms. Goma Karki is the Project Lead of Youth Innovation Lab and is an environmental and sustainability enthusiast who aspires to influence communities to move towards sustainability. While completing her bachelor¨s degree, she did a semester abroad in Cambodia where she lived with communities whose livelihoods were highly vulnerable to climate change. This experience ignited her interest in environmental research and sustainability and led her path to the Netherlands where she completed her master¨s degree in Sustainability Science and Policy. Goma also has multiple years of experience working with young people and guiding them as Fellowship Coordinator and a mentor. Ms. Karki has a bachelor¨s degree in Environmental Science and Mathematics from Hollins University, Virginia, USA.
