Degi Young


Ms. Degi Young is the World ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵAPP¡¯s Resident Representative for the North Pacific and is responsible for the World ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵAPP¡¯s partnerships with the governments of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau. From January 2022, Ms. Young will be based in the new sub-regional office in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia.

Ms. Young, a Gambian national, joined the World ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵAPP in 1992, holding various positions focusing on information systems and resource management and capacity development. Ms. Young was the Program Manager of the where she led the Facility¡¯s shift from being a funding mechanism to a client-focused, results-based knowledge exchange program.

Prior to moving to the Pacific, Ms Young was the Program Manager of the World ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵAPP¡¯s Myanmar Strategic Partnership Program, a multi-donor trust fund that supported the delivery of Myanmar¡¯s National Development Plan. In addition, she was responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the World ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵAPP¡¯s office in Yangon.

Ms. Young holds a Master of Arts degree in International Education from George Washington University, and a Master of Science ¨C Computer Science from the University of Maryland in the United States.
